Hi All,

This might be a dumb question to ask, but are all steering columns the same length regardless of whether they are power verses manual steering?

Thanks,

Eric

Power is shorter than Manual. The splines at the coupler are different too. Other wise they are the same other than floor vs column shift. 67' column don't have the "expanded metal" on the tube to collapse.

67’ columns do have the expanded crash section in the outer tube I have two and both have it.

For automatic columns, 67 through some point in mid 68 have reverse lamp switch mounted on them. That switch moved to transmission mid 68.
If you look closely at the steering shafts, there is a tiny weld bead around it where the end piece with splines was put on. Which piece determined manual steering or power steering shaft. Aftermarket offers adapters for the shorter power steering shaft to reach and fit manual steering gear.

67’s lower bearing outside diameter is 2 1/4” ....different from other years.
