Hi, I noticed your car had the antenna mounted on the rear passenger 1/4, but in another picture it is mounted on the fender. My 67 383 Barracuda has the antenna mounted on the rear 1/4 , I don't see many like this. Would you know a reason for the antenna on the rear instead of the normal position on the fender up front? I have wondered about this for some time.
 
It looked to me like someone had added that, I was not positive, but it looked like a cheap add on to me..
 
QKF,, yes, the rear antenna does look odd,( the antenna itself) I like the look on the rear just because it is different. My 67 383 car was factory installed on the rear. It had a long extension of the coax cable to the radio, also rear defrost, Interesting.
I don't often see rear mounted antenna, I had a 69 GTS with a rear mounted antenna as well. I have been curious to the reason being mounted on the rear and not the fender?

I think maybe sometimes the antenna gets put on the rear quarter is because of sometimes people run fiberglass fenders.

Okay, I didn't know if it was factory optioned or not...ended up using a different front fender that had the antenna hole so I went that route...
 
Makes sense with the hole already in the fender..... My fender does not have a hole for the antenna...so on the rear....came like that...steel original fenders by the way :)
Im curious now....what determines front fender or rear quarter antenna mount.. Hummmm

Good question?

They did that on the cars with fiberglass hoods etc. I have not seen a 2nd gen with the antenna on the quarter.
 
I thought at first radio delete and dealer installed radio? But why bother to run the antenna cable all the way to the rear? Still, totally factory on my car...and as I mentioned previous on a 69 Dart GTS 340 same antenna mounted on the rear 1/4. Both steel fenders without antenna holes...
 
Got the car home last night. Had the front end aligned,side windows installed, and added a stripe. Never planned on a stripe, but the body had a couple issues and this was the answer...
