Any leads on persons restoring the aluminum trunk trim that are on the 68 cars? My lower piece got dinged while the car was at a shop getting new mufflers. This is a rant for another day. Not sure this is fixable.

This is easily done but you have to patience to do it properly.

Remember, if you do decide to repair and refinish it you will be removing the anodized finish and polishing the aluminum .

Most bodymen could work out that dent for you.

You can get the part re-anodized but that will add a lot to the restoration cost.

Here's pics of mine which were also damaged with dings and refinished by me at home.

I decided to polish the aluminum instead of re-anodizing and am very happy with the results.

To replace these parts I'm betting would cost over 1000.00

Way cheaper to refinish them.

There is a Guy over in Pritchett, Tx. He is wonderful with Trim. Did several pieces for My 68 several years ago. I have texted him to see if he is still doing this work. If so, I will send You His contact info.

I talked to Jesse James, at Eagle Motorsports. He said Jimmy Montgomery, here in Tyler.
Jesse would not recommend unless He was 1st Class. 903-530-8648

I have not used this Guy, but I trust Jesse. We have been Friends for 40 Years and lives/breathes Racing.
This Guy actually is in Chandler. Even Closer to You. Shipping is so bad now, plus so hard to protect a piece like this.
I have 2 sets of trunk lid trim for a 68 that I will probably take to this guy. Text me, if you need further help.

Guys, hope I'm not going too far off topic but I thought I'd throw this out there again as a way to ship trim.

Use abs pipe.

You can buy it in various diameters and lengths and it is pretty much indestructible.

I have used it and shipped via USPS with no issues whatsoever.

There were some concerns expressed about shipping round tubing but here in Canada it wasn't an issue.

Put the tube in a square box if it is.

Might be a little more expensive to ship but better than getting very hard to find trim mangled.
