Can anyone confirm if a 68 Barracuda harness is identical to a 68 Valiant.
Also any changes in the harness from 67 to 68.
I have a complete 67 rally dash and harness i want to put in my 68 valiant and found a good complete harness from a 68 barracuda.
Thanks Much!

First difference that comes to mind at under dash harnesses 67 to 68 is reverse lamp wiring. A 67 harness will have a gray plug in the lower column area. It either went on the column mounted reverse lamp switch or plugged into a extension harness to reach the floor shifter mounted switch.
A 68 model harness has these 2 wires routed to and through the bulkhead connector ( through previously unused ports where wiper wires are ) to continue on to the trans mounted switch. They're taped in with that brown wire that goes to neutral safety switch.
Second is wiper switch. When the lower dash pads were added the slot in the panel locating this switch was rotated 90 degrees ( so it didn't need to turn as far counterclockwise I guess ). Wiper wiring differences are abundant due to the different wiper systems.
There are other differences in the bulkhead connectors/wire positions relative to those hood / fender mounted indicators that a 67 Barracuda didn't have. Yes that is in the lighting harness but like I said, they moved wire positions around so something could connect to and feed back wrong to the 67 dash harness.
Your 68 Valiant dash could very well have some courtesy lighting, delay timers, and more that the 67 rally dash does not include.
In the end , what you want to do can be done but direct simple plug and play isn't possible.

After another cup of coffee and re reading your post, you do have the 68 dash harness. A factory service manual for a 68 valiant is all you need. Both standard and rally dash diagrams are in that manual since the mfgr was forced to place rally dashes in some number of 68 Valiants.
Bulk of what I posted above was relative to a 67 harness in a 68.

The plug in's are different between 67 and 68 but you may be able to just swap plugs. The 68 cuda harness is a direct plug in to the valiant. They used Cuda dashes in Valiants in 68 when they ran out of Valiant dashes. The 67 cuda dash doesn't have the lower dash pad for 68's but is still a bolt in

also in 68 they moved the horn relay inside the car just above the DS kick panel. The plug in's on the back of the speedo's are different between cuda and valiant. If you use the complete dash assy from the cuda in the Valiant your good. The difference is the horn relay location and the main plug to the rear lights but you can probably swap plugs.

pick up one for a 67
Wow! That will require a few changes indeed but I think well worth the effort. I do have the color coded diagram for my valiant, After reading your replies maybe I should purchase a diagram from a 67 rally cuda as well! Thank you so much for your input, Much appreciated!

Thank you very much as well Sedanman! That was very informative and I will compare my harnesses after removing it from the car this weekend.
