Hi All... I had to lower my steering column in my 68 Dart to remove my instrument cluster, and whilst I was under the vehicle doing other work I noticed some fluid had leaked out the back of the steering box; kinda the outer area of the steering box housing of where the column shaft enters the box (not right where the shaft enters if that makes sense!?) Some had leaked out onto the floor (small patch around a hand palm size), and whilst that has stopped, I can feel in there with my fingers and its wet; I'm guessing I should not be able to do that?
I'm concerned this means I've damaged something?? Any feedback would be most appreciated:)

Sounds like maybe you tore the input shaft seal. I normally disconnect the coupler from the gearbox for that reason.

Hmmmm I was afraid of that, does that mean I should definitely not run the engine, and this power steer pump/system until I replace that seal? Is it a big job to replace? I don't really fancy dismantling/removing the steering shaft unless necessary
