Hoping someone out there can measure the height from the top of their core support to the top of their radiator tank and top of core to top of Radiator cap.
Will this clear my stock hood? My hood is being stored at the body shop... so I can't just set it on to see if it clears and the car didn't have a rad when I got it so I can't compare.
Thanks -
Randy

Does this help?

I have 1.5 from top of core support to top of a 68 033 factory radiator With a factory style cap! Measured to the top of the cap!

Thanks guys!
2.25" top of core support to top of my cap. My new rad looks to be a 1/2" to 3/4" taller than yours, guys...
hmmm
Another look from across the fenders with a straight piece of cedar from fender to fender.
I know the 69 hood has a slight rise in the center but it may be close!

1.5 not 2.5,

I just put the a 5' level on and dead even from the top of fender to fender and touching the top of a factory cap and radiator no room for error. And that was just touching the hood edge side of the fenders. These cars are tight! Your board was on the high edge of the fenders! The peak in the hood really does not gain any clearance over a 67/68.

With a straight edge on the inside of each fender edge, mine is 1/2" higher.
Any chance there is a 1/2"-3/4" clearance from the hood to the top of your cap?
If not, I will need a shorter rad or will need to modify my core support or rad or both...

There may be, but darn if I would chance it without full mock up. The under side of all second gen cars in that area are identical as the hood to support seals are all the same!

Post #3 really tells the story, subtract 1.5" from that is what you have to work with maybe!

Make some tin foil or clay cylinders, place them across the radiator top, remove the latch bar from the hood. Slowly lower the hood, find the clearance. Just like an air cleaner.

My hood is in storage... but that is exactly what I did for the Air Cleaner for my E-Body. I used Plumbers Putty.

Someone else was just telling me about an aluminum radiator that sat too high and he couldn't close the hood. Wound up drilling new mounting holes to drop it down a bit.

Got some good details and measurements from RealWing off his SRT8CUDA Build.
SRT8CUDA Build

It looks like it will clear with not much room.
Plan to lower it an inch anyway. Safer and will look better with the top of the rad closer to the top of the core support.
