I will be cutting roof off my 1971 parts car here in CT.

have used Fastenal for shipping for a tranny from IN and was $150 to CT

YRC shipped an entire roof structure for me, a few years ago to the southeast. Was under $300, no crate was needed, was simply ratcheted down to a large enough pallet. Another cut rate shipper is Pilot freight, out of Baltimore, MD.
