7.25 axle clunk when braking

I’ve got a 72 swinger with the 7.25 running 1 inch spacers to fit big bolt in the rear (wilwoods up front) been dealing with clunking when braking hard, originally thought it was the u joint but after replacing I’m stilling getting a clunk, slop in the drivers rear axle

Did it do it before you put the spacer on?
If not, look there .

I dont think I ever had a 7 1/4 that didnt clunk. Probably something in the diff itself wore out.

Shift into neutral and then brake to see if the noise still occurs

I'm assuming that you pulled the drums to confirm brake hardware fit and functionality?
