7.25 Differential rebuild how-to articles/videos

I’d like to find some articles or videos on how to swap the gears and/or rebuild a 7.25 rear end. The rear ends I have worked on were GM, not many, and a lot of years ago. That said, I have dial indicators, torque wrenches and patience. The guys that I knew in my area that did this have moved or died, so I’m thinking about giving it a try. Any information anyone has would be appreciated. Everything I’ve found on the net is for 8.75’s or 8.25’s. Thanks.
 
Yup, skip the net, you won't find diddly for a 7.25. They're common enough, just not "popular" enough. Go straight to the FSM, there's no better "How-To" in existence. Get one for your particular year, or as close as you can- 7.25s changed a bit in the later years.

I have the FSM. It can be a little cryptic at times. I was hoping for a YT video. But something is better than nothing!

did you ever think about why that might be true? The 7 1/4 was a fragile, terrible rear for any but the most timid driving. I blew up my first one on my 1970 Dart in 1976 behind a 2bbl 318 automatic. Buy an 8 1/4, or if you can find one an 8 3/4, put it in and never look back. You are wasting your time and money on a 7 1/4.
 

You’re absolutely correct. However, I’ve heard the 7.25 with limited slip lasts a little better. The 7.25 in the year-old‘65 GoGo I had in high school took ten months of absolutely horrible abuse at my 17 year-old hands (and clutch and throttle feet.) My first set of new tires when I got the car lasted 6000 miles - front and rear. When I quickly fried the weird 3 spring Auburn clutch, its’ extra-stiff custom replacement kept dishing out the beatings. Wednesday nights were worse because I mounted some SBP steelies with recapped cheater slicks and ran it at the local drag strip. I’m trying to keep the car pretty original and don’t intend to drive it the way I did almost 60 years ago. That will probably increase the survival odds of this 7.25 (limited slip)considerably. Also, this rear end is going behind the stock 904 in my convertible while my other LS 7.25 will go behind the four-speed in my coupe. Both cars are original 235hp Darts. My avatar is the only picture I have of my HS car. I have to admit I’ve wasted a lot of time and money in the last 75 years. At least it’s not on a woman this time.
