Hi all a body brains. I have 70 dart and i'm having problems with my fuel gauge. I have no voltage at the end of the wire down by fuel tank sending unit and I've already done ground test on the wire. Does any one out there have tips on how to test my fuel gauge. Is it at the connector that plugs into the instrument panel and if so what is the easiest way to take out the cluster? any help on the location or links to a go wire diagram would be awesome! Thank you.

Ground the wire at the sender to a good clean chassis ground. Turn on your ignition, don't start, just turn it forward to the on position and watch the gauge. If things are correct, it should spike to full.

Don't leave it on but for a hot second. Do you have a ground clip that jumps the rubber fuel line between the sender and the supply line leading up front?

many factory service manuals are free downloads. In that is your step by step to inst' panel R&R, wiring diagrams, much more.

Badsport is on the money,right.
Dont forget that sender receives a pulsed voltage. Its 12v on 12v off, repeat. An analog multimeter shows it well; a digital? not so good. a test lite? incandescent filaments usually blink. LEDs? dont know. Those things suck. I refuse to own one. Like an LED flashlite; retina burning power when you get flashed, but just try to see something in a dark place! But I digress. Sorry.
If you have both a fuel gauge and a temp. gauge, they both receive pulsed power from the dash-gauge regulator. If the reg. quits, both gauges quit.Little diagnostic aid.

I did do the ground test and no spike on gauge. Thank you though. But the funny thing was a month or so ago I could get a reading on the gauge from the old sending unit. When I moved it to full the gauge read only half. I just need to search for some old wiring diagram. Thanks again.
