Hello everyone and Happy New Year!,

I have a 70 Dart Swinger, I Found a Trunk lid off a 73 Dart about 1.5 hours away that is in good shape for $125 plus fuel to get it. Seems like a good enough deal, but from my quick research it looks like they may be different after 72. Are they? and if so would it still fit/look right? Just want to confirm before I take the drive so I don't waste time and money. Thank you all for your time.

Think the outside looks the same but small differences in the underside and emblem placement holes. A 1970 trunk has provisions underneath for a factory spoiler...noticeable when trunk is open to a numbers guru but if you don’t mind then no biggie! (I think most 70-71 MoPars that could have had spoilers have this A B E-body)

I’m not 100% sure it will bolt right up, I see them for sale fitting 70-72 and some ads say they fit 70-76....I’m sure someone will chime in.

About the spoiler cutouts.......

The rear spoilers were a mid-1970 option, so no cutouts at all until December or so of '69. Both types of decklids were in use at the same time for at least a while after that.

From August '69 into December, thousands of cars were made with out the spoiler cutouts and some after that too.

Except for trim and emblems of course, the '70-6 Swinger and 4dr, '71-6 Ply Scamp, and 74-6 Valiant 4dr lids will interchange. For appearance differences and part ordering, the lock cylinders changed in '73 to the bolt-in type instead of the earlier clip-in type. Just use what is required for the year of the lid.
