So Im going to be replacing my fuse block and have noticed the numbers 2291593 on my fuse block and on various other blocks for sale new, at first I thought it was the part number, but thats not the case cause the actual part number for my car is 2983640.
Anyone know what that 2291593 number references?

This should answer your mystery

I believe it references the EMPTY fuse block, and then they get assigned a part # for the car line??
That could be it Steve, I know that even though the boxes can look identical, they can have a different configuration of terminals installed depending on what its going into, so I bet you are correct, thanks :)

I think its that simple. The fuse block is one number and the replacement assembly is another number. Just like the alternator has a number that's different than the alternator with pulley assembly. The parts book only lists the assembly.

in this case the parts book number doesn't match. It's a probably a generic package for the tech to assemble as needed.

If you find a fuse block from a '67 that was optioned with Tach or A/C, it might have a different number printed on it.

If you need parts they are available

Someone is selling the plastic base cover. I think its DMT.
I made a replacement by tracing and cutting out material from a plastic milk carton.

Sometimes a g**gle, or other websearch will pan out.
In this case we are looking for an unmolested original part in its box or container.

Hilltop Autoparts has this one for sale on-line.

@Mattax these things are complicated it turns out. I know the correct pt# for my car is 2983640, so thats not an issue, but even the last two pics that you posted has conflicting info, on the boxes the part number is 2586760, but the number on the block itself is 2587295. Strange.

There's a few guys here who have an insiders understanding of the parts number system. I'm just a hack who finds it interesting to solve puzzles.
