I am building a 70 340 dart swinger w/A833 and a Lakewood bellhousing with a few concerns. I purchased a new pilot bushing that fits loosely in the crank, falls out w/ clutch alignment tool. worn crank orifice?? also, this Lakewood "scatter shield" is 1/8 inch deeper than the stock bellhousing including the back plate. how will this affect the functions of the fork, throwout bearing and penetration of the input shaft into the block.
thank you and happy labor day,
George Andrews

The added depth will not affect anything. These cars varied in tolerence's when built. The amount the input shaft piloted into the crank should still be plenty to do the job despite that 1/8". Now about that sloppy fit,I would check with a company like Brewers for an oversized bushing.

I agree with the above statements. I've run a lot of Lakewood shields on many different makes and it won't seriously effect your adjustment. But I'd be concerned about that bushing being loose. Honestly, I never have run across that before.

The solution was the pb5300 from brewers.it is a needle bearing pilot adapter that goes in the big hole of the crank. Although I am not sure if I'm to use the pilot bushing as well which would be in front of the bearing.

The extra depth can and sometimes will mess with your fork actuation. BTDT.

My 2 cents, if your clutch works correctly now. Measure the distance from the flywheel face to the fork bracket leading edge with stock bell. Measure with the lakewood installed and make sure the distance is the same. If it's further away, make a spacer to move it forward.
