71 Dart Battery Tray?

Quick question . . . . are the battery tray and support bracket for a 71 Dart painted body color or are they black? Thanks in advance! L8r

Mine are always rust in color

Supposed to be body color....just like the rest of the engine bay. I just repainted the one in my Challenger yesterday because it was turning to rust color in places....lol. The belief that they should be semi gloss black started 30 years ago when people started buying NOS battery trays that were semi gloss black with white part numbers stamped on them, and just bolting them in assuming that was correct.

Thanks all! Body color is what I was thinking, but I couldn't really find a good pic that showed one. Thats what I will go with! This is hardly a concours restoration, but I want it to look as much like "factory" as I can as long as I have to do it anyway. L8r
