Hello Mopar brother’s and sisters

I have a 71’ Dodge Dart Swinger 318 (Now 440 Big Block). I am having issues with dash lights and I am certain that the circuit board is breaking down and I am looking to replace it. However, without actually crawling my stiff old *** under the dash, how do you know what dash circuit board do I have. When I researched them, there are several for the 71’ Dart. I think I have the single board and not a 2 piece board. I don’t know why there are several options …… a 71 Dart is a 71’ Dart with the exception of a Rally Dash (which I do not have). Is there a way (via vin # maybe) to determine which I have with out practicing my gymnastic skills at 65 years old……….. don’t kid yourself…….. I can do it……. But it ain’t pretty…. Cheers Ron D Nova Scotia Canada.

This is a great suggestion.
I have bought a pair of them exactly like the ones in the link and installed them in my '69 Dart.
The guy I talked to on the phone was very helpful and gave me a deal on the shipping because I was a Canadian!
I got the parts in 3 days, which surprised me.
BTW, he said that they supply many vendors with these parts such as Classic Industries, Year One, etc.

Removing the cluster is a pain in the *** and even worse re installing it if you have everything in the way.
Take it from me, hooking up the speedometer cable when the cluster is in is the worst experience that you will have!
The best thing to do is remove the driver's seat (or bench seat if you have one), remove the steering wheel, and drop down the steering column or remove it completely if you can.
It also helps to drop down the fuse box and pull out the light switch arm by pressing on the button in the light switch.
Then you can get your hands in there to work on it, it comes out pretty easily after these preparations are made.
Then clean up everything and install the circuit boards. (They fit perfectly)
I would strongly suggest installing LED light bulbs for the gauges, I did this and are very happy with them.
Bench test the cluster now if you can.
Then reinstall the complete cluster making sure the connectors are clean and don't have any pins left in them from the old circuit board.
Install the speedometer end into the gauge cluster, it will be pretty easy with all of that stuff out of the way.
Test the lights etc. before you do anything else.
Then put the rest of the car together and enjoy!

Thanks for the heads up for the task at hand (I think)……….now it sounds worse than I could have imagined…….. I plan to make it my winter project and hopefully not ALL winter LMAO. It is better to have the heads up than a surprise during the project. Thanks in advance Ron D
