Hi, just wondering what needs to be changed on a 340 originally matted to a manual transmission. I plan on using my 904 that I already have installed. Thanks.

That's what I was thinking, is there a plug that goes in its place?

all you need to do is change your drive shaft yoke. If your 4 speed tail shaft was large spline. if it was small plane nothing at all

Sorry, isn't the 904 shorter than the 4spd manual?
Also, isn't the 4spd manual and the 727 the same length & use the same slip yoke?
Or is it a mixed bag of yoke sizes through the years?

I already have the trans, drive shaft and rear end installed. Just an engine swap.

For a 4-speed to 904 conversion.
Take the 4-speed stuff out and sell it to me.
Bolt a auto flex plate to the crank, make sure it is for a 904, there is different diameter on 727's it takes shorter bolts than the 4-speed.
As mentioned before the drive shafts are different lengths, maybe yoke size, and is different from which rear end you have.
Most likely you will be running a floor shift for the auto, so I recommend buying a locker kick down cable, less headaches.
You can just shove the 4-speed petal to the floor, or if you really want the auto petals I think I have two in my barn.

Don't forget the transmission lines, just add a auxiliary cooler.
