Alright, kinda a funny thing to ask, but im going to need a lotta help with this. I rebuilt a 72 charger with my dad from the ground up, but that was about 6 years ago. I had a lot of mopar headed friends back home before i joined the military, but i never kept tabs on em and I lost track of them over the years, so i figured this site was the next best option. I have a 71 scamp that has been sittin outside for the past 5 or 6 years now, im about to return home from iraq in the next 2 months and im going to start rebuilding it. Was wondering if anybody had any advise on what im planning on doing. I want to drop a new 5.7 hemi magnum into it, and i plan on doing all the body work on it myself which is needs plenty of, its got rust along the lip of both rear fender wells, and rust spots in random spots along the sides, but never really had much guidance on that sorta stuff. So... haha, i have tons of questions. Anybody out there that can help me?

First off, let me say thank you for protecting the freedom of my family. I don't say this lightly. I mean it 100 percent. When you get home take an inventory of what you need. I have many A-body parts cars and I would like to repay you somehow.

Thank ya'll so much for the support, it really means a lot! I thought I was going to be on my own building this car, so this site has pretty much been a god send for me. And thank you SGBARRACUDA for the offer, we will have to see what all I am going to need for the build when I get back, and we will have to figure out some type of payment, I cant in good conscious just take things for doing what I love. Thanks again fellas

Can anybody tell me if a 71 Duster hood will fit on a 71 Scamp? They have the same front ends so im assuming that it would, just not 100% sure. Thanks guys!

Yes they are the same, a Scamp is basically a Dart from the doors back and a Duster/Valiant from the fenders forward. Good luck with your build when you get home.

Hahahaha, were has this site been all my life, l love it! Alright, next question. I want to put a manual tranny in it, but since im going to put the 5.7 hemi in, any ideas of were I would find one that would link up to the speedo and the new school engine, or how I would go about tackling that. Second, since it has a automatic tranny in it, does anyone make a conversion kit, or am i just going to have to visit the junk yard and see if I can scrounge up an old A body that came stock with a manual and salvage the clutch pedal, and what else would I need to grab off of it?

I might be able to help with the padals and the hump. There is a manual car in a junkyard near me. Oh yeah you didn't mention which branch but I am Army out of Fort Bragg. Anything I can do let me know!!

Im also Army out of Ft. Carson, im with 1-67AR 2/4ID currently in Mosul. I went to Bragg back in July 2006 for SFAS, didnt make it, but considering the humidity out there, I dont think I ever want to go back, haha. And as for all the help thank you, its much appreciated, I am gunna need all of it I can get. I PCS to Knox December 10th after I get back, and thats where I plan on getting down and dirty with the scamp. If I cant turn over a manual A body I will definantly have to get with ya about that one. Thanks again!
