72 dart bolt pattern

Hello
Im lookiing at a 72 dart ,
Is there such a thing as an 81/4 rear with a 5x41/2 bolt pattern ?

That would be a 1973 up rear end if it is an A-body rear end.

Yup, after 72 the A-body HD rear was the 8 1/4 with the5 on 4 1/2" bolt pattern. The 8 3/4 small bolt was not offered in the A after 72

Yep, all of the 8 1/4 rear ends were big bolt pattern and were introduced on the A-Body in '73. (With the obvious A-Body width)
All were 5 by 4 1/2 bolt pattern.

So he must have swapped the rear end.
Would it be the same width as the original 72 rear end with sbp ?

Yes they are the same width.
