72 lancer catalytic converter

I've replaced my carb to remedy a fuel drip and rough idle, resulting in much better performance. Should I remove the converters? I still seem to have a burp out the back of the exhaust. It's a 62 not 72.

Cats on a 62? Ok.... They will clean up the exhaust but should not alter performance. Most stinky old cars I smell are pig rich. I wanna pull them over and hand them a screwdriver. A rich mix into a catalytic converter will kill it fast.

Im trying to wrap my head around cats on a 62. I don’t think people stopped having converter problems until we got into port EFI. Im all for clean air, & we’ve made great strides, but Id be getting rid of cats even if running a newer engine, but with a carb

You don't have cats on a 62.....or a 72 unless someone added them.
