I recently stumbled on a bit of info that said a floor shift 727 (perhaps 904 also) had to have a couple bosses on the tail housing to mount part of the floor shift linkage. (I can not find the info now )

Are these the bosses in question?

Yes that is the mounting bosses for the floor shifter lower support bracket. They are present on 727 and 904 transmission used in passenger car floor shift applications. Often present, unused, on column shift cars. The bosses are not on truck transmissions.

The bracket is shown circled in the following image:

There are variations among body styles and linkages.

The following image shows another view of the bosses:

904 takes takes a different bracket but looks similar. also the rod going from the lever to the shift fulcrum is different length.
Steve, I have never once changed any brackets or linkage when going from 904 to 727 or from 727 to 904. There was always enough adjustability. This is on 67 to 75 darts, dusters or demons/sports. Kim

There is but they are different. The bracket with the 2 studs . One bends down at the studs and the other bends up. Also the rod one is longer and has a different bend. But I also made them work.

I found this one in a bucket of smalls that came with my 66 383 from a Fury II.

I have the console shift linkage from the shifter knob through the floor , I was missing the trans bracket and the shift rod.

Now I have A trans bracket (assuming it correct for 727 and a body) but still need the trans shift rod.
