Can anybody tell me the differences between early and late front pumps for our 727s?

I am working on rebuilding my 727 but my front pump is trashed. I got my hands on one from a Ram but it's probably a '77-80. Any idea if this would for me?

Thanks

IIRC if it's anything like an a904, the stator (back piece) will bolt on to any pump as long as the transmission isn't something exotic like a push button rear pump. The things to watch out for is to make sure the sealing rings are in the same spot and the same size and the torque converter engages. Give a look over. Air test everything, three times. WITTRANS has other pumps for a good deal as well.

I'll bet Fishy68 can really nail it down for you.

PS: I found this

70 and older 727's used a 1/2" wife front clutch support bushing (where it rides on the pump stator). 71 and newer 727's have a 1" wide bushing so they won't interchange. There was also a change in the late 70's (78 maybe?) where the stator meets up with the rear clutch and the sealing ring location. You need the correct vintage for what your working on. Like PD said try www.wittrans.com If they don't have it try www.bulkpart.com
