Got a question. Just finished putting a 3500/4000 converter in my built 340 demon, has manual forward valve body, when shifting from 1st to 2nd kind of slides into 2nd gear. With previous converter, stock I think it would chirp the tires, what gives? ( has no kickdown linkage)

Kick down linkage is required, as it tells the tran what pressure to use. Park it before you burn the tranny.

If it is truly a manual valve body no throttle pressure (kickdown) linkage is required because the throttle pressure function is eliminated. If it is a manual valve body it will start off in what ever gear is selected. i.e. put it in 2nd it'll start in 2nd. Put it in 3rd it'll start off in 3rd.

A high stall converter will soften the shift. Sometimes quite a bit. That may be your case.

Need a suggestion of a after market throttle and kickdown linkage kit for a 1970 Plymouth Duster 727 transmission and I am running a Barry Grant Demon. Thank you Herb

Herb, I deleated your e-mail address since E-mailing you would not help anybody else (But you) looking to do the same thing.
It also takes away from the forum.

My answer to you is a Lokar cable set up. I have used one myself and found it easy to install and adjust. You'll be done in no time.
