I’m looking for some ideas as to what may be the cause of having no reverse in my 727. I put the car in reverse the other day and heard a “pop” and car wouldn’t move. With throttle input it seems to try to move but I don’t wanna cause any further damage so I didn’t try to move it more than a foot or so. The car does move forward in all 3 gears as I did check that. Trans has a manual valve body in it. Any ideas or suggestions as to what may be the cause? I’m hoping to not have to remove the transmission to repair but will do if I have to. Thanks

Several times I've found the rear band strut popped out, causing that issue, usually on a high miler that hasn't had a band adjustment/service in a long while.
Seems to happen when there is still slight forward motion as it's shifted into reverse .

Good luck

If it is just the strut, you can put it back in place in car .
It'll be laying in the pan or on the valve body .
You'll find it when you drop the pan to drain the fluid .

Man valve body. Shift kit as well? I have had the low/rev servo spring cover pop out because the kits come with a stronger spring, which overcomes the thin, pressed steel spring cover.

I have asked him where he is located. Might be able to help. I am near STL, MO. Anybody know where he lives?
