73 dart axle to 68 valiant

This has probably been asked before, but is the axle width and spring perch placing on a 73 dart axle the same as on a 68 valiant? I might be able to buy such an axle so I can start my conversion from 5x4 to 5x4,5.

Yep, same same.

Not all 73 axles have the 4½ bolt pattern. If donor car had disks, it will. If drums, most likely not. I have a 73 as well as the Demon. The 73 is a drum brake car with the SBP wheel.

If you are going from a 7 1/4 to an 8 1/4 or 8 3/4, you need to change the U bolts and shock pads. The axle tubes are 3 inch on the bigger rear ends. You need to use your e brake cables, too.
