73 duster heater box

Quick question, I have a 73 Duster non AC car and took the heater box out about a year ago.
For some reason I have no idea where this metal rod goes to.
It is on the passenger side where the vent door opens for fresh air.

It hooks to the top of the fresh air opening

I actually looked up there but the glove box door was shut so I overlooked it.
FYI I rebuilt the box with Detroit Muscle gaskets and it is a really nice kit.
Plus Advanced Auto heater core was less than $40 using a $5 off coupon I had.
