73 Duster Instrument cluster plug

Color codes and schematic are in the FSM. If you don't have one you should get one. Printouts are available free.

So far as the cluster itself, you can easily just look at it (or post a clear photo of it here) and follow the pc board traces to wherever they go

Go to MyMopar and get the factory service manual, find the diagrams, and then continue on a few pages. There are charts there showing the connector layouts. They are not all marked but show wire colors and numbers, so sometimes you must "go back" to the diagrams and find them to see what is what.

MOST wire colors have been the same for years.

This is from page 8-168 showing the various "I" "Instrument panel" connectors.........The "CI-14" in the oval is the connector number, and will be indicated at the various terminals/ wires in the diagrams

Below, this is a random page from 8-155. It happens to show several items in the cluster. Notice the diagrams are all chopped up. Everywhere you see that "CI-14" in an oval, that is a TERMINAL in that connector shown above

For example. look at bottom right the fuel gauge:

That path from the bottom of the page is depicting the path of the sender wire from the sender, through the body connector in the kick panel, and coming up the page, finally to CI-14 which is the sender wire coming to the cluster So the wire labled G4-18 DBL (no. 18 dark blue) is right at the cluster. Now go to the cluster connector in the above post and look for that wire

If you look at the top left of the diagram, find wire G5-20 DBL and the CI-14 label. That is your switched power coming to the cluster connector from the key.

73 duster standard cluster. I have a diagram but it dosent show the pin out position on the board like what wire goes to a b c d ect.
The wiring diagrams dont show the letters on the connector. They show the connectors center key position. The key is at 12 o'clock on the circuit boards but may be anywhere in a drawing. Factory manual for 67 rally dash shows that key turned 90 degrees to 9 o'clock. Regardless how the engineer drew it, the wire locations are relative to that key location. There was one guy who didn't know this and got it all wrong. He did admit he was wearing beer googles when he placed the wires. I suggested he turn his drawing 90 degrees so the key is on the top. Then I added "Its 5 o'clock somewhere". LOL

Thanks Redfish. And I can never remember how that drawing is orientated. Is it looking at the cluster or the front of the harness connector or what. As I said you can look at the board and traces the PC board traces and figure out which is which. Then go from that
