The heads on Jake's 360 he is building are casting # 3769974.... He has a guy wanting $200 for a set of J heads. Both sets have 1.88 intake valves. Both sets of heads will need rebuilt for his build. Our question is this: Are the J's worth the extra cost up front, if he's having which ever set he ends up with upgraded to 2.02's, hardened seats, new springs to match the voodoo bumpstick? I've never built anything other than a mostly stock engine. Jake's stroked 360 is new ground for me....

Basically the same head. He would be money ahead by just building the heads he has already. All 340-360 heads flow the same when they have the same size valves.

They all (340/360 heads) with in a few cfm of each other. The best to worst differences would be 20 cfm as cast. Once you take the heads to be rebuilt (and IMO have some bowl work done,) they will be equal to each other.

When your done with any iron head (except the W2) you'll be under headed for a stroker. It's a little hard to have enough cylinder head up top a stroker. Even more so with the stock OE castings.

Not enough difference between the two to ever know it.
