what is the correct way to do this swap.

Thanks

Chad

You want to swap out a 74 bumper with one from a 72?

That is a good idea as a 74 bumper comes in at over 80 pounds and a 72 is more like 20 pounds.

All you need to do is first take off the 74 bumper. there may be some holes there all ready that the 72 monts will bolt right in to. If not you need to mont the bumper monts to the bumper. Then hold the bumper where you want it on the car. Have some crates, wood and or rop to hold it in place. Then go under the car with a marker and mark the holes through the bumper monts. Drill the holes out and mount up you bumper with some bolts and nuts.

Good luck.

I collapsed the shocks on my 75 bumper and welded them up moving the bumper closer to the body. I removed plastic car to bumper piece. I did the front also. Do a search on here as there are a couple of theads showing how to do this. I have an earlier valance pan I'm going to make fit on the rear as there is a visable small gap. The front looks ok just pushed in. Just a thought Mike

He could do that too and it does look a lot cleaner. But if you can swap to early bumpers on the front and back you are not only making the car look better but allso taking over 120 pounds off of your car.:toothy7:
