74 Dart w/ 340 6 pack

I'll back out of this post. I wish you well.
Thanks for the well wishes but you don’t need to back out. I was answering your inquiry about the way things are being done.
I’m glad you noticed something that maybe wrong and then said something about it. The help I’ve gotten here is why I’m happy to be part of this community.

So now that the holidays are over I got back to doing what's really important...getting the engine set up for the dyno!!

The shop has been busy...they let me know today that the car was in the paint booth and it's being sprayed. I went over to take a look and WOW is all I can say!!! Great job Geoff!!!

I brought the motor over to the shop on Saturday. The transmission and engine are now back in the car. Almost ready….

I had to read all through your thread again. Evil Dart is fitting. LOL. What a lot of work!

why did you go from the RMS to HDK? I missed that part.

You’re right…it has been a lot of work!!

It’s because the RMS had problems. It may have been mine, but with no gussets on the upper shock towers, after I hit a pot hole the passenger side bent inward and the sway bar tab on the driver side broke off at the weld leaving it hanging…oh and then there was the poly bushings that squeak no matter how much you grease them up. So when the engine got pulled that’s when I decided to change out the front end.

Found a new grill for the Dart this week. It’s in the trunk. The new Exhaust is being put in. Bumpers are on…Getting closer!! A few pics from today.

Always have followed your build and great to see you updated how you wanted so you can get many years with it Great looking car but I'm partial to the beak nose for sure it has character.

Thanks, I have a special place for the beak nose. Back when I was into Chevys, I had a ‘72 Z28 Camaro split bumper with a pointy front end and thought it was the bomb. IMHO I don’t know why all hate for the point. Best part is no one thinks they’re gold mines and I can find parts (most of the time) for a reasonable price.

Let me start by saying your car looks fantastic! And congratulations on all the upgrades and progress that you made. Just quick note on the 340 pack the system is not hard to tune and if everything is running correctly is pretty straightforward. what happens and what has happened over the years in many cases people do not understand the true problem .and they try to tune out the problem , screw with this replace that and fall down a rabbit hole and now they don't know what the hell is going on . I find the system both challenging and rewarding and most of all rare . No need for drastic changes or big system improvements lol. I've been running mine for around 4 years now I've had a couple small hiccups but tuning it is just fun!

Thanks for the kind words. When I first found out I had a six pack motor I did a lot of research and found that a lot of people were having problems tuning their carburetors. During that time I found an article about tuning the carburetors in Hot Rod magazine. There’s a company called Pro Max that makes parts for the six pack that make it run flawlessly.(Post#355)
It’s around $500 for the three pieces that you need to make your six pack run with no problems. 8 years of running this set up and I’ve never had a problem.

The motor has been broken in and the windshield is in. An episode of Roadkill that had been postponed because of Covid is being filmed, so the progress on the car has slowed...but on the flip side I can say the car was on an episode of Roadkill :D They've wrapped up filming so...Hopefully next week

A lot more progress made. The rear window is in, the interior is all back together, side glass is in, all of the window trim and drip rails are back on and the Go Wing is on.
Still waiting on the wilwood brake kit, supply chain issues….miss it by that much.
Will miss Goodguys this next weekend but I’m still a go for Spring Fling!!
In the second picture you can see the Corvette from the Roadkill episode still at the shop.

Well the wilwoods won’t be in any time soon so we put the stainless steel brakes back on. She will be ready Friday.
