I had to rob the 360 "J" heads from this engine to supply the port size and larger chamber volume for the turbo project. It should be a win win situation as Dallas at D & L in Canyon Texas did a super job of prep and assembly on these "302" casting swirl port heads. The smaller stem stainless 1.94 long stem bow tie valves and a little grinding here and there with some D & L magic on the bowls will make better power on the normally aspirated engine than did the 360 heads. With the added compression of the new heads I opted for a little more duration on the cam choice. I found a NIB Melling performance cam on Ebay for $50 to my door (purple stripe performance split lift duration 447 int 450 exh advertised duration (sae) 290 int 300 exh 222-232 at 0.050 ) and a set of NIB AMC 360 lifters for $29.95 (basically the same as a magnum head swap lifter that has the potential to oil through the pushrod). I found an Edelbrock carb at a swap meet for $50 that bolted on and ran and re curved the distributor to allow more initial timing without exceeding specs at RPM. Here's a vid and some pics...
