I am installing an Auburn gear limited slip into my 489 Center chunk. The problem I am running into is the carrier bearings are not fully seated onto the shaft. I did use a bearing installer, but it will only go flush with the top of the shaft. The bearings that are on my open carrier are fully seated. How do I get the bearing fully seated? As always all help is appreciated. Thank you.

An old inner race with a split down it makes a great bearing driver. That's what I do. Two different inner race sizes for 8 3/4 - Sure grip and open.

Press it on with a shop press and the right size sleeve to push on the inner race.

Mission accomplished..
I didn’t have any kind of sleeve, so I had to go purchase another bearing and strip the cage off and hone it out just a bit. It worked great. Thanks for all the help.
