I have a 489 housing 8-3/4" with what I assume has a crush sleeve that has lost tension. I get a growl around 70mph and up. The gears only have about 4000 miles on them. I was battling a driveline vibration for a while, which is now solved, but I'm thinking that vibration may have taken a toll on the crush sleeve. Can I simply take gear apart and replace the crush sleeve with the eliminator Dr. Diff sells and put it back together? Is there anything special required to install the eliminator kit?

Once you install the solid spacer, you need to reset the pinion preload with the supplied shims. The pinion depth won't change. You'll need an inch pound torque wrench.

Thanks, that’s kinda what I was thinking but wasn’t 100%.
