8 3/4 question

this is probably a dumb question, but what is the difference between an 8 3/4 742 case and an 8 3/4 489 case? Is it easy to tell the two apart? Thanks

The casting number is stamped on the side of the case. Also look for a big "9" on the 489 case or a big "2" on the 742 case to identify them.

No question is dumb when you want to learn. That's what were hear for.
