8 3/4 question

What is the tallest (numerically lowest) gears that will fit in a 8 3/4 with a 489 center section?

I just took a set of 2.76 gears out of one...

They may have made taller gears but 2.76 is the tallest I've ever seen. That's probably not much help but just thought I'd ad it.

I've seen 2.45's in an 8.25 rear, but only 2.76's in the 8.75.

Cool! Looks like 2.76 are the way to go but I'll look for smaller. Really thinking about doing the Silver State Race and I want top end speed. Super Tall gear + 727 with Gear Vendors (making my tranny a 6 speed auto)=Very high top end!

I had a 82 Mirada 318 with a 8 1/4 and 2.20 gears!

2.20 holy crap!! Bet that was turnin about 1200-1300 Rpms at 60mph

You know what. Thinking about it again I think it was a 7 1/4, but it was a 2.20 ratio.
