Ok, have a few different questions. I have a 73 Dart and I'm looking to switch it to an 8 3/4. Well I found one on craigslist, 8 3/4, 323 gears, 741 case but not a posi. He says it's 55" from the backing plates. As of now, I have no idea what it's out of. But thought someone might know from specs and length. And most important will it bolt right up into my Dart or will it need to be modified? Alright onto the next part, he's asking $175 for it but is wanting to trade me for a Budweiser neon, that I have no money invested in. Seems like a good price from what I've seen people sale them for. Alright last question, will it still be worth it if I want to change the chunk, to a sure grip or something along those lines. My Dart has a 8" Ford posi rear end in it now(don't ask why, that's what it had when I bought it). Just would like to get some opinions on the positives and negatives... Appreciate it.

Well I paid $700.00 for mine, and it was 3.21 gears cone type sure grip.
and I guess I got a pretty fair deal. So, compare with that I guess? Mine was also a A Body rear end. So it bolted in perfectly into my 73. Tires do stick out an inch further though.

If it's 55" flange to flange, actually 54 15/16", it's a 68-70 B Body rear. The perches should be 44" c to c. A body rear has perches at 43", you can actually stretch the springs to install a b rear the 1/2" on each side. Best way, no, has been done a lot over the years.

175 is decent value if the drums/pumpkin are good. If you can get it for less, even better.

Sorry that 8.75 info page is not very good.
