We have a 90 degree oil filter adapter.

We have a truck block with a standard oil filter plate and nut/bolt.

Obviously we have to remove the nut/bolt, but do we also remove the plate underneath it when installing the 90 degree adapter?

Thanks. Eric L

im sure you know this, but just in case, there are 3 gaskets involved
the big one is obvious but the two smaller ones can get confusing
the thin one goes on the bolt first, then the adapter, then the thicker one (so the thick one sits in between the adapter and the block)

and when you install the 90 degree, grab yourself a crescent wrench and have the boy hold it on the adapter, that way you are sure it doesnt twist and tear the gasket as you torque down the bolt

Awsome! Thank you guys.

But the way it's been going, I'll be holding the housing and Jason will be doing the wrenching. Lol

And make sure you torque it to spec @ 50 ft/lbs, you can damage it.

Smear Lots of neverseeze on those gaskets, and they won't get hard and crack and leak and stick. And the flange and the threads. Messy, but it works.
Also, it will help the adapter slide over the gasket while adjusting, and not dig in and tear. Go a little lighter on the torque if you use it on the threads.
And you can reuse the gaskets ! It takes the heat problem away.
Good for gaskets, flanges, and threads. And that's what you are dealing with !!
Always use Never when you can. LOL

great advice I am having the same issue.
I was not sure how to reinstall the new gasket kit until I read your article...

Thanks Phil
