I came across 67 hp 440 hp parts car for sale and after looking the motor over it is a 70 block with late 70's 902 heads. Has anyone used these heads? What do you know about them? Thanks in advance

All I know of the 1974-1978 902 heads are they were designed for unleaded fuel and the flow numbers are same as the 452's and 346's up to around 500-600 lift cams but with the larger guide bosses in the valve seat area you need to watch for coil bind depending on lift of camshaft. The better choice of course is the 906 heads which are easy to find for cheap. Let me know if you need some I might have a few pair laying around for rebuild. Performance wise the 906 are hands down the best choice.

Approximately 50% of the 902 heads I have inspected have cracks in the exhaust seats, most generally between the intake seats and exhaust. As stated above they are very similar to the 452 head and are not a high performance head. The 902 is my least favorite head to work with.

452's will get you induction hardened exhaust seats, 902's were flame hardened at best, and probably not even that(sources differ, and I haven't personally tested)

906's flow better(stock), but not hugely so, and 452's seem to show better improvements with less money spent on porting, even if 906's will ultimately show greater performance. Without porting and/or refurbishment, it's practically random chance which is better, 906 vs 452, depending on which has worse seats, core shift etc. S/F.....Ken M
