I just had my 904 rebuilt. This morning I did a little pull on my way into work all was fine. Went to leave work and all of a sudden it shifts like there is no kick down pressure. Does anybody know if something could have come loose internally. Thank you in advance. Ps all kick down linkage still intact.

Yes l have inspected all linkage and and verified that I have a full movement. I am running a lokar style cable for the kick down. That's why I was wondering if it was possible for something internal to have come loose. I am not very familiar with the internals.

First things first:
What year is the transmission?
What engine?
Did you double check the fluid level in neutral / running at idle and level ground?

Governor blew apart, it happens.
A pressure test will prove it.
Easy fix but a time-consuming PITA, the tail has to come off.

Or TP valve actuator-lever has fallen down. Pressure test will prove it. as will removing the KD linkage-rod off the lever at the trans, and not finding the spring-tension on it that is supposed to be there.
For a guy that knows how to do it, this can be fixed in less than than 30 minutes.
For most of us, the pan has to come off. Still cheap, but PITA.

Neither of these occurrences should ever occur, and especially not in a recently overhauled unit. But yet, that's how they come to me, as recently overhauled units.

Can pull the speedo cable and look inside and see the governor to see if it came apart (or stick a scope in).. at least on my 62 trans i can, i would assume the newer ones also since they have a bigger speedo hole even..

Yeah, great idea, the governor is right there.

You probably checked this first, but the set screw to adjust the Loker kick down cable wasn't completely tight on my '65 Dart and let cable slip enough to cause an adjustment issue for me. Just a thought....
I hope it turns out to be a simple fix for you.

I would think k/down pressure overrides the governor. Also, if gov is faulty/inoperative, it will affect automatic up shifts. Make sure that the KD lever on the 904 is all the way back when you are at full throttle.
