Hello,
I have just started a 904 rebiuld, and I'm looking for input. Let me give you my set up.
225 w/ 9.5:1 HP not dynod yet
2.76 7 1/4 rear end

STRICTLY STREET CAR, that I won't be afraid of stomping on now and then
I plan on putting a transgo TF-2 kit in it
My questions are these

I heard it is possible to add more clutches with some slight machine work. Is this true. Is there a website, or mag article that referances this?

I am debating putting kevlar bands in, if nothing else just for fun. What are the pros and cons of kevlar bands.

What is the stall of a stock /6 convertor. I am thinking about putting in a 2200-2800. Advice? Ideas?

More questions I came up with

Shimming the accumulator spring to allow less travel. How thick of a spacer?

Kickdown lever I can't remeber what ratio mine is. But Mopar performance offers a 5.0:1 Good idea? Pros cons?

Front clutch drum snap ring is a wave style. Putting a flat snap ring in good idea? pros? cons?

There is a piston that allows more clutches and or special plates do the same.

4.2 ratio is best, HD strut apply, billet servos TF2 shift kit. More than enough for a 225.

I would say a basic rebuild kit, tf2, and a 4.2 kd would be more than enough. Whats the build on the slant? Unless its some nasty nitrous/turbo setup it should be fine. Mine is basically that with 280whp and no problems. 5.0 kd lever is too much.

the engine is just calm rebuild. bore and deck. increase valves. nothing radical, just a street car.

try to score a low gear set out of a later trans, a V8 trans will have the 5 disk front drum as well

Places sell a "accumulator rod" that replaces the spring and prevents the plugger from moving and giving "harder shifts"

Whats funny is when we pulled my buddies 727 apart there was a snap-on 3/8 socket extension in there lol, apparently those are the right size too.

Thanks guys,
Where can I find a 4.2 kick down?

Would I need an Accumulator rod for a street car? What is the advantage?

Thanks,
Jason

Don't use a 5.0 lever on a 904. It could cause shift overlap. Many places sell the 4.2 kickdown. Andrews racing (a sponser of this board) is one. www.bulkparts.com is another. Mopar perf. is another. If you put in the Trans-go kit you really don't really need the accumulator blocker rod but if you want gear slammin 1-2 shifts it'll make that happen. I woulnd't use the Kevlar bands. They are very hard on stock drums because they're so aggressive and cause the drums to wear much faster. Kevlar bands are mostly a race item.

The stall rpm of the converter you need is dependant of your engine build. If it's stock or near stock a 2000-2400 will give you a nice perf. boost. C130 had a good suggestion about replacing the gearset in the trans. with a newer one from a A999 to get a lower ratio especially since your running hwy. gears in the rearend.
