I know that repair/rebuild prices can be very location dependent but I would like some input on what you guys have paid to rebuild a 904. It ran fine when pulled yesterday but since we are going to be building up the engine and need a shift kit anyway it is a good time to beef it up. We are hoping for mid to high 300 hp out of the teen and will likely put a 100 hp shot of N20 on it later. If you guys have some specific thoughts on what internals should be used in the rebuild that would be great also. What have you paid to have your 904 rebuilt and strengthened? Thanks

PS auto trans are just one of those things I don't want to try to rebuild myself. Not enough time and too many darn little parts. disgust

I've heard some of the ¼ mile hot rods are running 904s behind Hemis for the lighter weight. You may want to find out who does their slushboxes to get some recommendations to them.

For a street car, I've been happy with TransGo's RV shift kit on my 904. Crisp shifts without the harshness of the strip kit.

Thanks '72. Anybody have their 904 rebuilt who can shed a little light? thx

Just had my 904 rebuilt for a 'teen build as well. Have $400 into the whole trans, total rebuild all new clutches, bands ect. . . Trans-Go stage II shift kit set for "street/strip" and a brand new 2,200-2,600 stall converter.

Well, it does help to be friends with a chrystler auto trans specialist master tech :)

I have a question on this subject, will my 904/slant 6 tranny bolt to a 360 I am building?
