904 torque converter HELP

just bought a rebuilt trans and a hughes 2500 stall converter been trying to mate then for about an hour with no luck . for some reason it will not engage into the transmission pump what's going on? has anyone else had this issue before please help

Your gonna have to give a little more info.
What trans?904 or 727?
Year?

Have you tried lifting at center and spinning in?

I dont know the the year but its between 69-72 its a 904 and I have tryed lifting the center it seems the seal is to small and not allowing the converter to go past it

FYI, the 904 convertor fit is depedent on the front pump/input shaft spline count. I learned Pre 1968 spline count is different than post 1968. You maybe installing a convertor built for a small input shaft in a large input trans. Try counting the splines on the convertor and the input shaft to determine if they are the same. Hope this helps.
