Can anyone tell me where to begin trying to identify a-arms?

Size of the ball joint is the only way I know of.

What kinda a arms? Upper? Lower? Are we even talkin about Mopar? A, B, C, E body? Be nice if you could throw us a bone.

Mopar A or B body, I'm usually dealing with 62-65 and there are only upper a-arms. Aren't all torsion bar cars equipped with upper a-arms and lower control arms? I will try to get a couple pics posted tonight.

The ball joints still installed in the UCA's?
Measure the threaded diameter of the ball joint stud.
7/16 inch 62-72 Small Ball Joint UCA's
9/16 inch 73-76 Big Ball Joint UCA's

If no ball joints in them, then you will have to measure the diameter of the "hole" where the ball joint threads into.
1 13/16 inch Big Ball Joint.
Don't have any "Small" joint UCA's around here to give you a measurement, but you get the idea.
Smaller hole diameter, small ball joint UCA.

Then to determine if the UCA's are A Body, or B & E Body you most likely will have to measure the overall width of the UCA.
A Body UCA's are noticeably narrower, but if you can't tell the difference in eyeballing them, i guess measuring will tell.
I can easily tell the difference by eyeballing them, but i have been doing UCA's and LCA's for decades.

To identify A Body LCA's they will have the letters VL, stamped into the front of them.
Most likely, one has to scrape away all the surface rust on the LCA's to find the letters.
B Boby, E Body LCA's have the letters PD or RW stamped into the front of them.
All the same LCA.

Finally had time to take a couple of pics. Across the the bushings the arms measure about 9 inches. Studs on ball joints measure .430, so 7/16. View attachment DSCF1234 - Copy (640x480).jpg
