A body 4 speed

My transmission has some issues so I bought an A body 4 speed and the casting that holds the input shaft and bearing is larger diameter than my old transmission and will not fit in the bell housing. Do I need a different bell housing?

Easier to get the correct bearing retainer. Check with Brewer Performance.

Sounds like you bought an overdrive transmission.

They sell all different kinds of bearing retainer adapters. Like said call brewers and he will set you up.

99% sure it is an overdrive. What is the casting number on the retainer... C13157 or C97728?

Overdrive transmission. If you wanted to use it with your bellhousing, you will need to machine the bell bore to 4.807", and machine the retainer on the trans to match.

I will just rebuild the one I have. It pops out of 2nd gear when you gear down.

Most of the time that will be a problem with the 2nd speed gear itself. Most of the time we can repair vs. replace it. If you have any questions just call.
