I have noticed that some bb a body motor plates have an offset to the passenger side built in them, and some don't..why?

Mopars have the drivetrain offset to the passenger side. The motor plates that don't have any offset built in generally leave extra material to let the installer place the engine where he wants it, which is what I prefer.

Puts a small degree of side angle on the driveshaft ujoints. Ujoints don't do well running in a straight line. Harmonics come into play.

Just depends if the motor plates are built for a Mopar or if they are general purpose plates that you're suppposed to finish yourself. The plates I build are designed to put the engine in the location that TTi specs for their headers. The Mopar driveline is offset toward the passenger side so that is how I designed the motor plates. If you start moving stuff around then you start a big ripple effect.
