    Hi friends !!!

I'm sending you some pics of our Brazilian Darts & Chargers, they were locally built by Chrysler of Brazil from 1969 till 1981.
The Dodge Dart was first produced in the four-door model, with the 318 V8 as the base engine, and a 3-speed column shifting manual transmission. Here are some official images of this first generation Darts:

An interesting thing to pay attention, our first gen Dats used the same dash from the 69's Plymouth Barracudas !!! Have a look:

By the ending of 1970, the two-door hardtop model was attached to the line, with the same powertrain and options, here's some pics of these cars:

In the factory, with all of board staff, the launch od the Dart Coupé, 1970:

These cars remained quite the same in options and style until 1972, in the introduction of the 1973 year model some items were changed, but that's a talk for the next chapter...

    Stay tuned, my friends !!!

Allright fellas, let's get more pics !!!!

There was another Dart model that was launched in the market for the 1972 series, it was called "SE"(from Special Edition), and it was the cheapest Dodge on the lineup, they were very spartane, with little or no chrome on all external pieces possible, and deletion of normal production items such as power brakes, sunvisors, internal ventilation, radio, etc. The floormat was made of rubber, and the seats were upholstered with vinyl that could match the exterior color.
They were offered in high-impact colors such as green, red, yellow, orange and white, with special stripe identification.
The engine was the base 318 V8, 2bbl. carb, coupled to a three-speed manual trans with a Hurst-type floor shifter, and bucket seats.
This model was dubbed "the poor man's Charger" and they are very rare today, because most of buyers wanted to put some extra acessories to show more refinement. The model seasoned only three years into production, and it was deleted from the buyer's list in 1975, due to the lack of interest on it.
    Here are some pics of this great car to share with you;

Thanks pal, I feel the SE looks terrific too !!!

Now let's change the subject a little bit, we're gonna talk about the luxury
versions of our beloved Brazilian Darts: The Gran Sedan & Gran Coupé.
The Dodge Dart Gran Sedan was a Chrysler attempt to gain market on the richer kind of people, their main goal was to grab these costumers from Ford, because at that time the top-price car in Brazil was the Ford LTD Landau, and it was substantially more expensive than our Base Darts.
In some researchs the Chrysler marketing staff discovered that "A-Class" consumers used to think that Dodge Dart was excellent in shape and roominess, but they felt a lack of furnishment on these vehicles...
The response came early in 1973, when the Dodge Division launched the "Gran" line, with a two or four door body option (Ford had only the four-door option on our market), with required equipment as standard features: a very comfortable bench-seat, air conditioning, power steering, power brakes, special upholstery, thicker floormats, vinyl top, and more exclusive details, as you can see in the pictures below:

And here's a picture on the same model, two-door HT, dubbed as Gran Coupé:

All two used the same 318 V8 engine, with a three-speed column shifter manual transmission, and a option of a TorqueFlite auto transmission, and metallic enamel painting as the only option in the list.
By 1975 the front-end changed ,and the grill was similar to the one used by Dodge Chargers, only with a double-chrome molding, as you can see in the image below:

The Gran Coupé remained in line until the end of the 1975 season, and the Gran Sedan stayed firmly on the market through 1978, when it was replaced by the LeBaron model for the new 1979 Dodge lineup that will be posted soon.
In the next episode, the story of the first brazilian true muscle sports car: The Dodge Charger !!!
    Stay tuned, my friends !!!

I like the looks of the blacked-out grill on the 1972 models.
