I own several Valiants and decided to begin work on my 1965 convertible. The first thing I noticed is that the title has incorrectly listed it as a 1964. The VIN number is V452503173. The car is a V8 car and near as I can ascertain, came with a four speed (no column shifter, pushbuttons and the floorboard looks like a factory setup). I am still attempting to decode the body plate. The first number on the plate is 292 and then below is the SO (either a D or an O followed by 27), Number (00014), Body (V45), Trim (P4Y), and Paint (AA1 A). Is there any way to confirm if the Valiants were a four-speed car? Thanks for any help.

There should be other codes on the fender tag to indicate which transmission it has. Have you found a build sheet? It give a lot more info. It wouldn't have come with a push button trans regardless as that option ended in '64. OH! Welcome aboard! I just realized it was your first post.
