Went to install new rear brake hose, hose did not come with a washer, put a generic parts-store copper washer on threaded end that screws into brass tee on axle. Tightened down but threads bottomed out before washer was compressed onto the tee. There is about an 1/8" gap left. Is there a special thick washer I am supposed to use? New hose threaded end is same length as old hose threaded end but old hose had same problem. It did not have a washer on it, but looked like it was leaking. I have 7 1/4 rear end, but did not see application for 7 1/4 hose vs 8 3/4 rear end hose. Anybody ever encounter this? Any help is appreciated, thanks.

I just replaced that rear hose a few days ago. I can't say for sure that the old one was the original, but it was OLD. There was not a crush washer on the old hose at the tee and the new hose did not come with one either. I tightened it down without adding a new washer. I've poked my head under there the last couple days and no sign of a leak.
