can someone help me with a dealer installed a/c on a 72 dart swinger/6--it's shortcycling--new compressor--new evap--new exp valve--new dryer and low press switch vent outlet only gets to 53 deg. i can hot wire a/c comp and vent temp will get to 35 deg.

Add about 1/2 lb more. Do you have gauges? Low side should be about 30 high side 150+
with compresser running. Will usualy cut off at about 30 and re-engage about 50 on low side

Before you start dumping more refrigerant into it, find out WHY it is short cycling.

Could be the control, a bad low pressure switch, low refrigerant, water or other cantaminnants in the system can allow the metering device to plug/ thaw etc

"New" parts does not mean "good, functioning" parts"

The fact that temp goes on down when you bypass the controls almost sounds like a control problem rather than a system problem, but you need to check operating pressures and temps to find out. (Too little refrigerant is as bad as too much, either can damage the compressor)

Since yours is a 72 (You still run R12?) you can download the factory manual right on this site

And, the guy at MyMopar posted some Ma service videos, which I posted here the other day:

Here's the link to the master Youtube page, there are over 200 videos on Ma service

If it is cycling proper on the pressure switch 30/50 then it is low or restricting. The drier may have a sight glass is it bubbling or clear. A restriction will be hot on one side cooler on the other can usually be felt by hand. Other than that metering device (exp valve) is defective. Was the condenser coil blown out oil can get trapped there from a poorly running system but will eventually return to comp.

thanks for the ideas--long story short I replaced the evap switch--40 deg. air, much better

This is a VERY good example of why you should not "automatically" reach for a couple of cans of refrigerant every time the system falls flat.

Glad you got'er goin!!

My system is much simpler. It is activated by odd cranks on the doors, and these magic black doors under the dash!!
