So, like a lot of members here, I sold some parts to another member. It actually was on the E body forum, but the point is still the same. I have literally shipped well over a 100 packages on eBay alone without a problem. Anyway, for the first time, the postal service lost the package. I was lucky that the Priority Mail that I used automatically comes with $50 of coverage. I had sold the item for $55 so I got most of my money back, plus they reimbursed the postage fee of $12.80. I haven't always bought the insurance, but am glad that I had it. The other thing that helped is that we used PayPal shipping as goods and services. It provided as a receipt for the transaction for proof to the USPS. PayPal refunded their fee since I refunded my buyer. So, a lesson learned that only cost me about $5 in lost profit. I thought someone might find this helpful since there are quite a few that buy and sell here on the forum.

I recently bought from a member on here, "some" of the purchase arrived via USPS and Canada Post all twisted up. Some in the same box was good.
Member that sold me parts refunded my entire purchase. I just picked up pkg last week, so not sure if I will be able to salvage it, but seller will be getting some $$ from me. Even though he had insurance via USPS, they wouldnt cover it for some reason.
Insurance/goods and services worked out for you!
A member with integrity worked out for me!

A buddy shipped some ammunition (appropriately boxed and labeled) via _________ (to protect the guilty) shipper.

Seeing the 'some of' above reminded me: He said you could see the weight of the package decrease at each check point. When it arrived; empty box.

I don't know if someone at each point siphoned off a few rounds, but I can picture a trail of bullets from Springfield, MO to the destination, Hansel and Gretel style.

Would you explain the process that you followed to get the refund? I too have been a victim of the federal government's insurance scam.

I mostly just followed the instruction from the USPS website. (Link below)
File a Claim | USPS

The main things you will need is a tracking number, proof of value, which in my case was a screen shot of the PayPal transaction, proof of damage/lost, and proof of insurance. We waited 30 days just to make sure the package did not show up. They actually approved the claim fairly quickly in my case.

I have had to claim on a couple things thru USPS. I will tell you this , if they damage the package en-route, they will not refund Postage. Just the cost of the item.

Canada Post is the same. Only the cost of product, shipping not included in insurance. I'll up the insurance to cover the cost of shipping.

I imagine why my shipping cost was covered was that they lost the package, and did not complete their part of the transaction. If the item was delivered, it meant they completed their part of the service that you paid for. As far as insuring the shipping cost, I had to prove the price of the item shipped, so just be aware of that.

Just received this email from the USPS. I turned in this search request almost a month ago, and they have already paid for losing it. Now they are going to start looking for it.:realcrazy:

No, it was packaged/boxed. Post office let me open it and take pics to send to shipper.

A box isn't near as sturdy as a piece of lite weight (schedule 80) pipe , wont bend , and would take a considerable amount of weight to crush it . I shipped rear trim in 4" abs , more than once .
