Folks,

I need to glue vinyl to wood..I tried the 3m spray glue but it doesn't hold very well. Suggestions ?

When you laid your new interior carpet in you car, did you glue it in or just lay it in ?

Thanks
ian.

Weldwood contact cement in a can from Ace Hardware.
It's nice and thick so it doesn't soak in fast and is what I use for wood to anything, and it works great.

What about Marine Epoxy like they used in Blues Brothers?

When doing carpet the nice hot sun is your best friend. I lay the carpet out in the car on a sunny day, roll up the windows and let it sit for a few hours (longer if it is cool outside). It will relax and conform to the floor pan that way. I have never used any glue.

Have you tried asking at your local home improvement/hardware store.

For vinyl and other laminates on wood I use contact cement. brushed on both surfaces, allow to dry a bit, bond. You get only 1 shot though. If the laminate isn't placed right, you'll ruin it trying to separate the bond.

I trust the advice here ...

So, no glue for carpet..and I like the idea of using the sun..
several great ideas for the vinyl..I shall look around here if I can find any of the above mentioned.

Thanks, as always..
